Powered Parachute accident could have been avoided

Amarillo area powered paraglider pilots (on this blog) operate under strict rules.

We never fly over populated areas, homes or low over crowds and especially when it is windy, as it is the case here.

Listen closely to the audio, you can hear someone comment about how windy it is.

The accident you see (in the video posted below) could have been avoided if the pilot had decided to drop the candy from a higher altitude, especially in light of he fact that he was flying heavy with a passenger.

Our thoughts and well wishes go out to those injured in this avoidable accident.

No doubt, as a result the FAA will step in and our hobby will be hit with new safety regulations.

Powered paragliding is extremely safe, but can be dangerous when less than intelligent pilots hot-dog, giving those of us who strictly follow safety rules a bad reputation.

Experimental Flying Test Video

Just an experiment with the action cam mounted on the paraglider. I found out real quick not to mount it underneath the frame unless I want a great shot of the back of my leg! Were still learning.

Deadstick Landing

Touch & Go From Deadstick

Do you see the fence Ken?

My powered paragliding friend Ken Hanson was landing when this stupid fence decided to spout out of the ground and into his (almost) final approach! The nerve!

The luck of the Irish was with him on that St. Patrick's Day!
